Flutter is defined as the Google’s UI toolkit for building amazing, natively compiled applications for mobile (Android, iOS) desktop (Linux, Mac, Windows, Google Fuchsia) and the web from a single codebase. Flutter grants developers to build mobile applications for both iOS and Android with a single codebase and programming language. Flutter renders the similar look as a native app. It draws the UI from scratch, not acts as a wrapper on top of native UI components like other frameworks do. Apps built with Flutter use Dart which is enforced to both client side and server side development. Dart is an open-source and object-oriented programming language also established by Google.
The early version of Flutter was known as "Sky" and ran on the Android operating system. It was disclosed at the 2015 Dart developer summit with the stated intent of being able to render consistently at 120 frames per second. During the keynote of Google Developer Days in Shanghai in September 2018, Google released Flutter Release Preview 2, the last major release before Flutter 1.0. On December 4th of that year, Flutter 1.0 was started at the Flutter Live event, denoting the first balanced version of the framework. On December 11, 2019, Flutter 1.12 was launched at the Flutter Interactive event. On May 6, 2020, the Dart software development kit (SDK) version 2.8 and Flutter 1.17.0 were released, summation support for the Metal API which improves performance on iOS devices by approximately 50%, as well as advanced Material widgets and network tracking development tools.
Though Flutter is relatively new, we foresaw the advantages it had over other cross platform technologies and quickly adopted it the week it came out of beta. Within months, we begin work on live projects including an enterprise project within 3 months of its launch!
Not only do we dig deep through the official documentation, we also have written our own guides to learning flutter for app development as well as contributed to the open source community on Github as well as GitLab.
At Crystal Infoway, we love to give back to the community and we do it by organizing meetups. We spread the word and keep the community active especially within Rajkot, which we’re based out of.
Flutter is great, but there are times where in cross-platform app developers need to work natively with Android and iOS platforms. Our developers have firsthand experience with either Android or iOS before they pick up Flutter mobile app development.
Test Driven Development (TDD) has always been instrumental in ensuring the quality of the deliverables, especially large projects which might otherwise need a lot of regression testing.
Apps without animations are like chocolate cakes without cherries. We make incredible animations possible by using their internal libraries and external tools such as lottie to give your apps a wow feel.
We use tools which automate repetitive tasks and thus increase productivity for our developers such as CD/CI tools like Codemagic and Bitrise, Performance monitoring with Firebase, Error Handling with Sentry and more.
